See that cloud hanging above your head? Don’t swipe it, fight it, paint it red. This is what you should do: you let it stay. Invite it in to come and play. Breathe it in and breathe it out again. Breathe in an out, like it’s a game. Don’t feed it, greet it, or make it shout. Don’t pull it closer, don’t push it out. Just watch it quiet, just let it be, Watch what happens, and you will see! A thought’s a thought: it’s nothing more. A clump of energy, like batteries at a store. Much like a creek or river, which also floes, It stops sometimes and then it goes. If thoughts come knocking, open the door. If you do not feed them, they can’t stomp or roar. Do not chase them when they come in. A thought is curious, it’s not a sin. Like a child, it is not bad, It is still good when it is sad. Just like babies, thought might bound, If you leave it be, it might look around. Thoughts might sit, or grumble or pout, But once they’re board, they flow right out. But please remember, thoughts aren’t you. They are energy and you know what to do! Thoughts are energy, and nothing more. When they flow right through, just shut the door. Breathe in and out, and don’t be shy. If a thought is hard, it’s okay to cry. It’s not your fault, and it’s okay to say. I will save this thought for another day. Imagine a container, and make it strong. Then, pop it, close it: it won’t take long. Talk with a counsellor, and/or doctor too, Tell a safe adult, who knows what to do. Bring your container, and open it there, They will help you, and you can share. We need safe people, and that’s okay. To save your thoughts for another day. If we need to vent, then tell a friend, Or, write it down, but don’t press send. Lock it, close it, put it away, For your safe person another day. Who is a safe person? This is who: A teacher, police man, and family too. Tell a safe grown up: it won’t take long, Or, write it, draw it, sing a song. We all have problems, and it’s alright. It’s not a reason, to hide or fight. It means you’re human, don’t you know? We all need help, so hurt won’t grow. Mental health matters for me and you. It must be cared for in all we do. All have feelings and thoughts that stay. No life is perfect, all skies turn grey. All need support, a family, or a friend, On harder days, when hearts must mend. You are good and smart and lovely, too. Just be yourself in all you do. Make time for health, and you’ll go far. Go for a walk, or drive in a car. Learn new skills, do things that you like, Go for a swim, or ride your bike. If things get red, you know what to do, Find your adult, so they can help you. But, if you can’t, just count to ten. Breathe in and out, and start again. If you make a mistake, it’s not the end, Just say you’re sorry, be a better friend. You are not perfect, and that’s okay, It can’t be sunny on everyday. If it did not rain, the plants would die, We all must eat, so the sky must cry. Sometimes fires and storms come too, They take out weeds, so seeds go through. Bright days are fun, but so is snow, And wind, and clouds, don’t ya-know? Healing takes time, it can take a while With support and friends it’s okay to smile. Everything grows, and changes too, Tadpoles, frogs, and you do too! Seasons change, in weather and life. A baby, a child, a husband, a wife. Mom’s have babies, and they grow too… When they move out, what do they do? There are lots of phone calls, and stories galore. Then come grandkids, and love grows more! So, little friend, bad times do not stay, When rains blow over, go out and play. Remember, just breath you’re safe and sound, Just like nature grows and the world goes round. You aren’t your words, you aren’t your mind, You are a human being, so please be
