01 - Ink and Iron
[Intro — very slow, 4/4, church organ D-minor, distant anvils, cavern reverb] Narrator (deep, solemn): From the belly of the mountain, the forges wake. Breath of cinder. Bones of stone. Here, the written Word meets iron. Here, oaths are tempered until they shine. [Choir — hushed, monastic, no drums] murmured drones Ink and iron… word and sword… Ink and iron… word and sword… [Build — horns swell, timpani rolls, anvils on 1 & 3] Narrator: We swore an ancient vow: the Word shall stand, defended by the Sword. [Verse 1 — guitars enter, mid-tempo march, palm-muted chugs] We mark the plates with firelight, we carve the truth the dark can’t bite. On rattling rails the engines start, steel-toothed mouths that print the heart. Machines of iron roar alive, their gears like wolves that never tire. We load the type, align the line, and feed the furnace of the mind. [Pre-Chorus — drums open, choir pads] Hammer down, the letters rise, liquid ore becomes our signs. Bind the page, and guard the gate, seal the spine with oath and fate. [Chorus — full choir + clean lead, wide and heroic] Dwarf-Knights of Print — we take the stand; Letters of Steel in calloused hands. Printed Gold of Trust, we raise it high; we bind the ages, words never die. Guardians of knowledge, keepers of light, we hold the line through mountain night. [Post-Chorus — anvil motif + crowd shouts] Crowd: Word! Choir: Sword! Crowd: Ink! Choir: Steel! All: Forged for eternity — the truth we feel! [Verse 2 — heavier, tom-driven, organ pedals under guitars] We feed the press, the belts all sing, a thousand teeth that kiss the ink. Through smoke and steam the pages bloom, black suns on white that split the gloom. For every child, for every home, the maps of thought, the seeds we’ve sown. We wheel the crates through iron halls, and stack the dawn on pallet walls. [Pre-Chorus — call & response, choir answers the lead] Lead: Who bears the scroll when empires rust? Choir: We do — with Printed Gold of Trust! Lead: Who shields the Word when tempests churn? Choir: We do — let every lantern burn! [Chorus — repeat, bigger, cymbal swells, octave lead] Dwarf-Knights of Print — we take the stand; Letters of Steel in calloused hands. Printed Gold of Trust, we raise it high; we bind the ages, words never die. Defenders of Word and Wisdom, sworn — knowledge for everyone, dusk to dawn. [Bridge — break to half-time, only anvils + low choir, spoken oath] Narrator (over anvils): By flame and gear, by ink and bone, we cast the thought in tempered tone. Forged for eternity — our creed made plain: Defenders of Word and Wisdom we remain. Let learning flow in every tongue, knowledge for everyone, old and young. [Instrumental — guitar/organ unison theme, then a short lead; drums build back to tempo] [Final Chorus — key-lift, full choir, organ grand] Dwarf-Knights of Print — we take the stand; Letters of Steel in steadfast hands. Printed Gold of Trust, through fire tried; we bind the ages — time unified. From mountain presses to valley streets, the Word endures where hammer beats. [Outro — decrescendo, organ holds, single anvil hit with long tail] Narrator (whispered): When stone grows silent and embers thin… the page still speaks. Fade to black. [Final Chorus — key-lift, full choir, organ grand] Dwarf-Knights of Print — we take the stand; Letters of Steel in steadfast hands.
