What this song captures is not a particular relationship itself, but the slight shift that happens before something becomes words, the atmosphere of a night that can no longer be honestly called nothing. At the same time, it was made so that it would not settle into just one meaning. It can be heard as the quiet air left after a recording session, as a song about an unnamed distance, or as an inner change that happens before language can catch up. Rather than over-explaining its meaning, I wanted to leave room for each listener’s own scene to rise naturally.
