Paper 196 – The Faith of Jesus 🎶 Song: The Faith of Jesus – "When all is said and done" (Introduction – The Final Revelation) Not in power alone He stood, Nor merely teaching what was good. Not only wisdom, pure and bright, Nor miracles that filled the night. The greatest wonder mortals saw Was deeper than religion's law. A human life completely true, Lived in the Father's constant view. Through joy and sorrow, loss and gain, Through triumph, labor, fear, and pain, One faith remained, serene and strong: "My Father knows. I journey on." (Verse 1 – Jesus the Man) He walked the roads where fishermen trod, A man among the sons of God. Strong enough for vigorous souls, Yet gentle enough to make them whole. Not weak before the proud and great, Nor moved by fear, nor ruled by hate. The rulers feared His living word, For truth was present when He was heard. His mind was clear, His purpose high, No shadow dimmed His inward eye. What others sought, He seemed to know: The Father's will through every road. (Pre-Chorus) He did not trust because life was easy, Nor because heaven seemed nearby. He trusted when the storms were rising, And kept His vision fixed on high. (Chorus) This was the faith of Jesus, Living in the Father's presence every day. This was the faith of Jesus, Walking the living and eternal way. Not merely belief in sacred things, Nor comfort when the darkness comes. But supreme and unquestioned trust in God, Until the Father's will was done. (Verse 2 – The Living Reality of God) Others spoke of God above, Jesus lived within His love. Others hoped that God was near, Jesus knew the Father was here. The Holy One of Israel, The loving Father known so well. Justice, beauty, truth, and grace, He saw united in the Father's face. For Him, God was no distant name, No doctrine scholars could explain. Never in all the universe, Did God become so fully real in mortal experience. (Bridge – Religion of Jesus) Not creeds alone and not traditions, Not systems built through generations. A living bond from soul to soul, The Father's love that makes us whole. Not merely faith in Christ proclaimed, But faith like His forever gained. To live as children of the living God, And walk the path the Master trod. Theology may formulate, Define, explain, and legislate. But living faith is born within, Where spirit life and truth begin. (Verse 3 – Faith Victorious) He faced rejection without fear, And held the Father's presence near. When friends would fail and hopes grow dim, Still God remained enough for Him. Before the councils of the land, Before the power of human hands, No bitterness could cloud His sight, No hatred overcome His light. Faith was not refuge from reality, Nor escape from mortality. Faith was the courage to fully live, And trust the Father through it all. (Secondary Chorus – Son of Man) Son of Man and Son divine, Perfectly human through all time. Faithful to the Father's plan, The noblest soul among all man. Strong in wisdom, strong in grace, Strength and mercy interlaced. All that mortal life could be, Was shown in His humanity. (Verse 4 – The Supreme Religion) A higher religion He revealed, Not by argument but by how He lived. A personal relationship with God, Confirmed by experience, not applause. Science may study what is real, Philosophy seek what meanings reveal. But religion reaches the human heart, Where eternal values truly start. And through the ages still we find, The greatest conquest of mankind: Not power, wealth, or earthly fame, But knowing God as Jesus came. (Final Chorus) This was the faith of Jesus, Living in the Father's presence every day. This was the faith of Jesus, Walking the living and eternal way. With wholehearted trust and fearless love, He showed what every soul may be. A child of God forever growing, Across time and eternity. (Outro – The Last Message) The book may close, The story ends, The ages turn, The journey bends. But one great truth remains for all, The highest faith, the greatest call: The Father loves His children still. And Jesus showed us How to believe. To live by faith, To do the Father's will. To walk with God. And never doubt His love. 🎶 (Narrative) (...) When all is said and done, the Father idea is still the highest human concept of God. The Urantia Book ~ 196:3.35
