Heaven Better Have A Parking (Blorp III)

Dreamy California punk with a punchy midtempo drive, bright overdriven guitars, melodic bass, tight live drums, and a huge half-time breakdown, Start with clean chorus-soaked guitar and restrained drums, build into urgent palm-muted verses, open wide for a soaring anthemic chorus, then drop into a crushing spacious breakdown with ringing guitar harmonics and gang shouts before a final cathartic lift, Intimate youthful lead vocal, slightly raspy and emotional, layered harmonies in the chorus, raw but polished mix, wide guitars, compact drums, warm low end

[Verse 1]
You drew a door on the bedroom wall
With a marker that was running dry
Said, “Past this line, nobody falls”
Then you laughed and asked me why

We took the long way past the county fair
Where the ferris wheel stood still
Your borrowed jacket smelled like ocean air
And dust from the foothill

[Pre-Chorus]
If there’s a place that keeps the words we lose
I’ll meet you there with nothing left to prove

[Chorus]
Heaven better have a parking lot
With a view of the water and a broken clock
Heaven better let us stay up late
Trade our old mistakes at the garden gate
If they ask what we came here for
I’ll say your name, then ask for more

[Verse 2]
Your mother kept the porch light on
Even after you moved away
I watched the moths circle till dawn
And practiced what I’d say

There’s a photograph behind the glass
You’re squinting at the sun
I keep it folded in my wallet
Like proof we weren’t done

[Pre-Chorus]
If there’s a place that keeps the hearts we bruise
I’ll meet you there in those worn-out shoes

[Breakdown]
No gold streets
No perfect choir
Just your voice
And a little more fire

Stay right here
Don’t disappear
I crossed this whole damn distance
To find you near

[Bridge]
Maybe heaven is the minute
When the ache lets go
Maybe heaven is your jacket
In the afterglow
Maybe heaven isn’t waiting
Somewhere past the blue
Maybe heaven is the promise
I kept coming back to you

[Final Chorus]
Heaven better have a parking lot
With a view of the water and a broken clock
Heaven better let us stay up late
Trade our old mistakes at the garden gate
If they ask what we came here for
I’ll say your name, then ask for more
I’ll say your name, then ask for more

[Outro]
Leave the porch light on
I’m almost home
