[Verse] Nails through hands they laugh and play Casting dice for robes that fray A crown of thorns their prize to see Blind to grace on Calvary [Chorus] Forgive us Lord we know not why We gamble truth beneath the sky A wager made on borrowed breath Forgetting life outlives our death [Verse 2] Spears in hearts but none in shame Soldiers numb to the holy name Eyes wide shut as heaven cries Their own souls they don’t realize [Chorus] Forgive us Lord we know not why We gamble truth beneath the sky A wager made on borrowed breath Forgetting life outlives our death [Bridge] What if mercy wins the bet And grace collects the debts we set The stakes are high the odds are low Yet love still pays what we don’t owe [Verse 3] Prophets spoke of truths unseen A coin tossed on eternity’s gleam The soldiers played but could not see The cost of their eternity
