COMFORTABLE IN RUINS
I built a home in the wreckage... I got so good at survivin' that I forgot about the rest, made a pillow from the rubble, called the cavin'-in a nest, every alarm became a lullaby, every red flag turned to drapes — you can get so used to drownin' that the surface feels like a mistake So I decorated rock bottom, hung some pictures on the wall — 'cause it's easier to settle than to wonder if I'd fall I got comfortable in ruins, made the broken things my own, learned to love the kind of quiet that a wasteland calls a home, but the bravest thing I'll ever do ain't survivin' through the worst — it's believin' I deserve a roof that isn't gonna hurt See, the danger isn't fallin', it's how soft the bottom gets, how you start to call it cozy, how you make a peace with less, I can field a hit like weather, I can sleep beneath the storm — it's the sunlight through a window that I never learned to want So I decorated rock bottom, hung some pictures on the wall — 'cause it's easier to settle than to wonder if I'd fall I got comfortable in ruins, made the broken things my own, learned to love the kind of quiet that a wasteland calls a home, but the bravest thing I'll ever do ain't survivin' through the worst — it's believin' I deserve a roof that isn't gonna hurt So I'm packin' up the rubble, leavin' keys inside the door... I'm not strong because I stayed here — I'm strong 'cause I want more. I got comfortable in ruins, made the broken things my own, learned to love the kind of quiet that a wasteland calls a home, but the bravest thing I'll ever do ain't survivin' through the worst — it's believin' I deserve a roof that isn't gonna hurt A roof that isn't gonna hurt.
