[Verse 1] The road was long and burdened with care That my Savior trod for a heart in despair As he wept in the garden, my pain he did see His love was so great for a sinner like me [Chorus] And he wept and he cried, Oh Father, please heed They know not of what their hearts are made Oh Father, he cried, forgive them please For I love them, I love them, oh Father, please heed [Verse 2] And the Father he saw all the pain in his heart And he wept as he heard all the things that he asked And he granted the cry and he said, If you do All the things that I ask, I will surely do too [Chorus] Oh forgive them, forgive them, he cried on that day When he died on that tree on Mount Calvary Oh forgive them, forgive them, oh Father, please see I've done what you asked, now please set them free [Verse 3] And the earth it did shake and the demons they fled As the great Lord of all would die in my stead And the Father forgave me and said, All you must do Is accept what this child of mine did for you [Outro] How he loved you, he loved me, never was love as such How can I turn away when he loved me so much? Oh I love him, I love him, my Savior is he The one who gave all on Calvary's tree
