Neon Confession #NoirChallenge
[Intro – Rain & Low Bass Pulse] They say the city never sleeps. That’s a lie. It just waits. [Verse 1 – Spoken / Half-Sung] It was 2:17 a.m. The kind of hour where bad decisions feel reasonable. Rain slid down the glass of my office window Like the city was trying to wash itself clean. Didn’t work. It never does. Neon signs buzzed outside — Pink, blue, broken promises. I poured the last inch of something strong And told myself it was enough. It wasn’t. [Chorus – Sung, Slow & Haunting] In this city of neon lies, Truth hides in electric skies, Every shadow tells a tale, Most of them end in jail. In this city, nothing’s free, Not your heart, not clarity, You don’t solve the night — You just survive it. [Verse 2 – Monologue Continues] She walked in like a glitch in the system. Midnight dress. Silver eyes. Said her husband was missing. Everyone’s missing something in this town. She smelled like danger and expensive perfume. Voice soft as a corrupted file. Said she needed answers. Funny thing about answers — They cost more than questions. [Pre-Chorus – Low Vocal, Tension Rising] I followed the signal. Back alleys. Data clubs. Dead drop servers humming like guilty consciences. Every lead pointed somewhere I didn’t want to look. Her. [Chorus – Fuller, Drums Heavier] In this city of neon lies, Truth flickers, never dies, Every heartbeat out of sync, Every drink just makes you think. In this city wired tight, Darkness always wins the fight, You don’t chase the light — You brace for it. [Bridge – Instrumental Break / Confession Scene] (Beat drops to a low pulse. Rain louder.) “You knew,” I said. She didn’t blink. “I always know,” she said back. A distant siren cuts through the night. Turns out she wasn’t looking for her husband. She was making sure no one else would. [Final Chorus – Emotional, Slightly Resigned] In this city made of chrome, You’re always alone, Every truth’s a loaded gun, Every case already done. In this city cold and bright, Neon burns away the night, You don’t win. You just walk away breathing.
