[Intro] [Melody] [Verse 1] When we were wolves we ran through the night The stars were our compass the moon our light The world smelled of wild and tasted of frost We chased prey to ground we rarely lost [Chorus] When we were wolves we howled to the skies Fire of wisdom glowed in our eyes We ran with freedom we hunted with need Our hearts beat like thunder as we built up speed [Verse 2] We split our forces we tore through the haze Our claws carved stories of forgotten days The forest whispered the secrets we'd keep (we'd keep) We'd growl a cloud of fog as we'd leap [Chorus] When we were wolves we howled to the skies Fire of wisdom glowed in our eyes When we were wolves we howled to the skies Fire of wisdom glowed in our eyes We ran with freedom we hunted with need Our hearts beat like thunder as we built up speed [Bridge] Alas, it's time and we must leave Mans invasion has made the need Elder paws in front, setting our pace Strongest next, guarding our race My Mate and I follow, a grand design Brave and protective, none left behind None left behind [Verse 3] But time has a way of dulling the flame The beast fades to whispers the wild turns tame We dream of the forest the chase and the thrill We wake to this world where the climate feels ill Time's cruel hand it tore us apart The beast inside muted, we must restart Yet the howl lingers it won't let go Pieces of wolf live on in our souls [Melody] [Fade Out] Oh when we were wolves we were wild and free Ghosts in the wind no chains to see Forests tall and mountains high we answered the call When we were wolves we had it all!!
