“Shotgun Rider in a Raygun Town” ⸻ Verse 1 I was writin’ out the notes of a steel guitar cry Past where Love lives under a violet sky Every string I bent turned silver and slow Like a lonesome comet with nowhere to go Sent it driftin’ through the darkness wide Past the edge where the lonely hide But the Martians caught that melody line Said, “That woman’s heart ain’t yours — it’s mine.” ⸻ Chorus So I called him out into the street Boot heels sparkin’ on lunar concrete He’s got a ray gun glowin’ blue Mine’s just walnut, twelve-gauge truth I’m just a shotgun rider, son Against a galaxy full of alien guns But I’ll do what it takes, I swore — ’Cause I know why they want her… But I want her more ⸻ Verse 2 She’s got a beautiful mind like a neon dream Thinks in colors I ain’t never seen Talks like thunder wrapped in lace Got a constellation in her face And yeah she walks like gravity bends Like the Milky Way’s her oldest friend Even Martian kings with crystal crowns Been circlin’ her like buzzards round ⸻ Chorus So I called him out in the starlight dust Said, “Love ain’t somethin’ you abduct.” Your lasers might outshine my pride But you don’t know what burns inside I’m just a shotgun rider, Lord In a spaceship town with a backroad heart Let the whole wide cosmos roar — ’Cause I know why they want her… But I want her more ⸻ Bridge (Acid Drift Section) Steel strings spiral past her door Echoes knock on forever’s floor Ray gun halos flicker and hiss But they can’t outshoot a country kiss Saturn swings in a slow dance spin Stars lean close, say “Let him in” My pickup parked on a meteor plain Engine hummin’ her name again ⸻ Breakdown (Quiet & Serious) Maybe their beams burn hotter and bright Maybe their warships blot out the night But love don’t bow to chrome or steel It answers to what’s real ⸻ Final Chorus (Bigger / Sweeping) So I stood there steady, didn’t blink While galaxies shifted at the brink Ray guns charged with a cosmic scream But I had her name carved in my dream I’m just a shotgun rider, that’s true No spaceship badge, no laser view But I’ll cross the stars and kick down the door — ’Cause I know why they want her… But I want her more.
