Hotdog Stand

CONTEXT: As a little boy we visited my great grandfather's lamp store a lot, since my grandmother worked there. On the opposing square was a hotdog stand named "Hildas pølsevogn" (Hilda's sausage stand). I incidently had no ferm idea of colors at this point and insisted that sausages if not red were infact not just grilled (brown), but grey. Also, I loved the place. My great grandmother used to take me there especially if I misbehaved at the store. I must have picked up on this behavior, 'cause I remember visiting that hotdog stand a little to vividly 🕺 _________________________ [intro] Sit down they yelled See if I care Sit down they screamed looked up with a grin with surrendered whisper they sneered -"don't you dare" [verse] But I did Of course I did Had I been an englishman I'd been called a skid... mark... Or maybe just a twat [chorus] Alas I cared for little other than the hotdog stand The hotdog stand with every kind of sausage placed with steady hand [verse] So I stood there tongue pressed at the lamp stores window Grandmother furious mother even more so [hook] You see it was great grandfather's store. [bridge] But one tapped my tiny fat head and said "Come along - pick your choice - anything, anything, you bet" [chorus] I cared for little other than the hotdog stand The hotdog stand with every kind of sausage placed with steady hand [bridge] Great great great great great great grandmother was who it was. Well delete the "greats" and keep just one. I was her great grandson. [verse] And I ran outside Ran around, flew on by Old ladies shook heads in contempt attempts to stop me ohh ohh dear "as if" I say. [hook] You like them grey - great grandmother said. You like them grey - right my dear? So I steered her way Blew through the sound barrier You see! [chorus] I cared for little other than the hotdog stand The hotdog stand with every kind of sausage placed with steady hand. [outro] She said - I'll pay little one - I'll pay for the hotdog with the sausage grey.
