They’ll tell you love is supposed to make sense. That it should fit neatly into the plans everyone else has made for you. But you don’t get to choose who becomes part of your heart. You just wake up one day and realize their laugh is the sound you look for in every room, and their hand is the one you reach for when the world gets difficult. What we have is real. It’s in the years we’ve held each other together, in the small things nobody else sees, in the way I still know when you’re pretending to be okay. Those ties don’t disappear because someone disapproves. They don’t loosen just because people have something to say. So let them talk. Let them question us, judge us, tell us what they think we ought to do. I don’t give a damn what you say about the person I love. This is my life, this is my heart, and I know where I belong.
