FRANK 023 – Make Me a Companion | Frankenstein

(Verse 1) He finished all his story beneath the frozen sky, Then turned upon his maker and asked the reason why. If every human hated the face that Victor made, Then only one like himself could share the life he prayed. (Verse 2) He asked for one companion to walk the wastes beside, A being made to know him and never turn aside. No city would receive them, no household would be near, They would forsake mankind and disappear from fear. (Chorus) Make one who will not hate him, make one who will not flee, A heart condemned beside him to share what none could see. Then both would leave forever beyond the human shore, And Victor and his loved ones would fear his hand no more. (Verse 3) He promised they would wander where human feet were few, And live among the deserts beneath a distant blue. No child would hear their footsteps, no village know their name, If Victor gave his creature another of the same. (Verse 4) But Victor saw the danger that such a life might bring, A second lonely creature, perhaps a darker thing. He feared what two together might someday choose to do, Yet faced the debt of making one life condemned and true. (Chorus) Make one who will not hate him, make one who will not flee, A heart condemned beside him to share what none could see. Then both would leave forever beyond the human shore, And Victor and his loved ones would fear his hand no more. (Bridge) The Creature claimed his wickedness was born from being alone, That love might turn his hatred and give his heart a home. He placed before his maker the bargain he had planned, Then waited in the silence for judgement from his hand. (Outro) At last the man who made him surrendered to the plea, And swore to shape another who shared his misery. The giant left the glacier with hope restored once more, While Victor bore the promise of what would come before.
