๐ถ Song 178 โ Before the Night Fell
Paper 178 โ Last Day at the Camp ๐ถ Song: Before the Night Fell (Verse 1 โ Sonship and Citizenship) The kingdoms of this world may stand By sword and law and strength of hand. But heaven's kingdom grows its light Through spirit power, not force or might. Render unto God above, Render unto men with love. Children of the Father's care, Citizens while strangers here. (Verse 2 โ The Farewell Camp) Upon the hill the Master spoke, To faithful hearts and gentle folk. His final camp-day slipping by, Beneath the calm Judean sky. Some sensed shadows drawing near, Though many walked without a fear. The road ahead was plain to him, Though evening light was growing dim. (Chorus) One last day before the night, One last gathering in the light. The Fatherโs will, the Kingdomโs call, Still echoing above it all. One last day before the cross, Before the grief, before the loss. Yet faith already found its way, Upon that last camp day. (Verse 3 โ Andrew and Judas) Andrew watched with growing care, And saw a change was lurking there. The friend they knew was drifting far, Away from Bethlehem's bright star. A restless heart, a troubled mind, The signs were there for those inclined. Yet still the Master loved him so, Though he already knew the road. (Verse 4 โ David Zebedee) David kept the runners near, Watching events become more clear. He sensed that Judas planned to flee, And guarded what the group might need. Not preacher, prophet, apostle grand, Yet faithful with a steady hand. When others wondered what might be, The Master trusted David Zebedee. (Verse 5 โ The Master's Thanks) No crown was given, no trumpet sound, No worldly honor could be found. Yet Jesus saw the work he'd done, The loyal service, one by one. The messages through dust and rain, The countless miles, the hidden strain. A servant's labor heaven knew, And Jesus spoke his gratitude. (Bridge) Peter offered courage strong, John gave love the whole day long. Thomas stood when fear appeared, Andrew led through troubled years. But David served without acclaim, No wish for glory, wealth, or fame. And when the darkest hours came near, He still believed the Master's word sincere. (Verse 6 โ Looking Toward the Third Day) Though night would bring Gethsemane, And Rome would raise a cruel tree, A faithful heart already knew The Master's promises were true. The runners waited at their posts, While fear would seize apostles most. Before the risen Lord appeared, David's faith was persevered. (Final Chorus) One last day before the night, One last lesson in the light. The Son spoke softly of the way, Then walked toward Jerusalem that day. One last day before the cross, Before the grief, before the loss. Yet some remained and chose to stay, Faithful through the darkest day. And when the morning finally came, The world would never be the same. For love had walked the hardest way, Since that last day at the camp. ๐ถ๐๐โจ
