Fly With Me (Wub-Driven Ascension)

[Lead vocal: unusual conversational baritone, extremely close-mic'd. Slight smile in the delivery. Parenthetical responses appear from distant stacked voices, like a corrupted doo-wop quartet.] Would you, won't you Smoke with me? Would you, won't you Sit in peace? Will you, don't you Want to fly? Will you, don't you Want to try? [Bass answers each question: dun-DUN-dun. Guitar gives one clipped chord. No wall of sound yet.] [VERSE I — Groove settles deeper. Drummer plays behind the beat. Subtle Rhodes chords appear underneath the bass. Reverse vocal tails begin arriving before occasional words.] It's a spiritual thing That I feel. It's at times, I think And I ponder. I like to question Why. [One-beat dropout.] So I sit And I think On many things, Bright or bleak. But what I find Often times, What I prefer is To just— [Everything drops except bass.] SING! [Band punches the dun-DUN-dun figure together. Brief distorted seven-string guitar stab, then immediately gone.] [PRE-CHORUS — Playful doo-wop call-and-response collides with trip-hop. Background singers increase. Lead vocal begins moving from speech into melody.] Will you— (Won't you?) Sit down with me? Will you— (Won't you?) At least try? Would you— (Won't you?) Two deep breaths— [Audible inhale. Entire track sidechains inward as though the room itself takes the breath.] Fast. Exhale and— FLY..... [TRANSITION — Vocal stretches into a huge reverse-delay tail. Bass motif continues underneath while stereo field suddenly opens. Breakbeat fragments scatter left/right. A low guitar swell rises without becoming a riff.] [VERSE II — Dreamlike and weightless. Rhodes, distant guitar harmonics and breathing synth pads. Bass remains the melodic anchor.] To the moon Where I hide, standing Up, high in the sky. In the dark but Shown in glowing light, I'm just a reflection In the night. We are something Greater Than all we feel. The pain, the sorrows— They aren't real. [Drums become increasingly syncopated. A second bass voice quietly shadows the original an octave below.] We just live in moments, Experience peels. Emotions flounder And passions as much As we hold true to Our love... We never seem to want To give up... [Two bars of unresolved bass. Tape slows momentarily.] So I ask once again! [CHORUS — Huge but GROOVE-FIRST. Bass and drums explode forward. Down-tuned guitars reinforce only the punctuation. Stacked harmonies retain the old doo-wop call/answer character. Gang vocals answer from far across the stereo field.] Would you, won't you Smoke with me? (LET'S GET HIGH!) Would you, won't you Sit in peace? (ON THE SKY!) Will you, don't you Want to fly? (ALWAYS NEAR!) Will you, don't you Want to try? One day— One day— One day— [Instrumentation progressively disappears beneath each repetition.] We... cry. [Silence.] [BRIDGE — Bass returns alone, but the original dun-DUN-dun motif is slower and vulnerable now. Vocal completely dry. No theatrical delivery; almost spoken directly to one person.] I'll say to you If you will— Hold my Hand. Take me back to Earth. Love me true. Don't let it end. [Soft harmony enters underneath “don't let it end.”] I find myself Closer to the sun. It often burns. [Low distorted guitar slowly blooms underneath, more texture than chord.] I learn to ground Who I am... And what is love. [INSTRUMENTAL FRACTURE — The bass groove is sampled, chopped and displaced against a broken breakbeat. Industrial impacts appear in the distance. Seven-string guitars answer with short descending punches. Breathing synth pumps violently. Reverse delays pull fragments of “fly,” “earth,” “love,” and “hand” backward through the mix. Controlled chaos builds—but the original bass pulse NEVER disappears.] [FINAL BUILD — Human voices gradually overpower the electronics. Drums return live and enormous. Bass becomes clean again.] Fly with me— Won't you? (Won't you?) Sit with me— Would you? (Would you?) Talk to me— You should. (You should...) Cry to sleep— You would. [Half-bar silence.] [FINAL CHORUS — Full cathartic release. Doo-wop harmonies + gang vocals + massive modern rhythm section. Guitar is enormous but secondary to bass. Lead vocal alternates between melody and raw shouted doubles.] Would you, won't you Smoke with me? (LET'S GET HIGH!) Would you, won't you Sit in peace? (ON THE SKY!) Will you, don't you Want to fly? (ALWAYS NEAR!) Will you, don't you Want to try? [Choir begins repeating “would you / won't you” underneath in interlocking harmony.] Would you— (Won't you?) Will you— (Don't you?) Would you— (Won't you?) FLY WITH ME! [CLIMAX — Giant bass-led DUN-DUN-dun hits. Guitar, breakbeat, industrial percussion and synth sub strike together. Gang vocals become imperfect and human—shouts, breaths, overlapping voices rather than polished choir.] Would you... Won't you... [Background harmony, barely audible:] (Sit with me.) [One final dun-DUN-dun. Last note rings naturally into room noise.]
