They said God came down, walked among men Fully divine, but dressed in skin Said He was one, no equal beside Then put Him on a cross and said He got denied Wait pause let’s define the claim God can’t change, still always the same No shadow of turning, no split, no divide But somehow on the cross God stepped aside They say the Father turned His face away Couldn’t look at sin that day But if God is all, and nothing’s outside What place exists where He can’t reside If He’s in all, sustaining breath How does He leave and still give death If Life is Him, and He don’t depart Who left the body and who left the heart If God is one He don’t divide If God is truth He don’t collide If God is Life He don’t withdraw So what withdrew on that cross? If God is whole no separate side No turning back, no place to hide So if He stayed like they imply Who was forsaken and who was I They split the moment in human terms Pain in the flesh, so the Spirit must turn But that’s projection we feel alone So we write that feeling into the throne We say He left cause we know that pain That silence, that loss, that break in the chain But if the Source never disconnects Maybe the break is what we project They say God died but hold that line Eternal means outside of time You can’t end what never began So what exactly died in that man? Was it the body? That makes more sense Dust to dust, that’s evidence But Life itself? That can’t decay So maybe Life never walked away If God is one He don’t divide If God is truth He don’t collide If God is Life He don’t withdraw So what withdrew on that cross? If God is whole no separate side No turning back, no place to hide So if He stayed like they imply Who was forsaken and who was I? We read the words through human fear Turn “I am with you” into “not right here” We took the cross and split the One When maybe it showed what we’ve become A mind that thinks it stands alone A voice that feels it’s on its own But what if that cry “why’d You depart?” Was the sound of a breaking heart? No hate in this, just clear the view I’m askin’ questions, same as you If God is perfect, whole, complete How does He fracture in defeat? If Jesus is God, then stay consistent Don’t make Him present, then make Him distant Either He’s One with no divide Or we misunderstood what crucified Maybe the cross ain’t God split apart But man feelin’ lost from the start And what we saw in that last breath Was what it feels like to think Life left If God is one He never divides If God is Life He never hides If God is here no place He’s not Then nothing left… that cross was thought Not God gone not Love denied But the end of the lie we lived inside
