Fortress of the Silent Sands
[Verse] Asleep in the canyons Walls hewed of stone Bridges everywhere Paths trod alone Listen to the wind Its notes warn the curious: “Heed my warnings And survive the perilous” [interlude] [Verse 2] Upon these steps we climbed Not knowing what to feed Our curious minds and hearts Or our feet who wished to flee But we pressed on inside The sights that we did see! Nothing quite the same beheld The stonework then did we [interlude] [verse 3] Hark! Heed the trap! It springs behind us! Our battlemage did say We stepped aside But it did carry our poor thief away The paladin, up she did thrust A sword of holy power But had yet to learn the keywords That unlocked it in this hour [interlude] [Verse 4] Marched deep in the labyrinth A steady beat we kept The cleric wept for her dark friend As they passed by where he slept Set upon now every side Of monsters of all stripes The heroes desperate came upon A fight for their lives [interlude] [Verse 5] O Paladin, the noble prayer! It truly saved the day Too bad your patron was an asshole And couldn’t let you stay So for the battle in these canyons The final one in the fortress Came a single lonely huntress (what?) [interlude] [Verse 6] The battle was much fiercer than The party ever expected This huntress fought possessed The ruins her soul had ejected But down to cleric and archer The party fell to ruin And so they left the battle worn And traumatized for certain
