It was dark when I landed on the moon A spaceman from the planet earth In my dreams I am the star man Blasting off into the sky Passing the rings in space And landing back from where I belong Goodbye oh sweet lullaby I got the countdown And now I fly Goodbye oh sweet destiny The only way you can see me Is stare up In the night sky A man in a suit said I was to raise a flag But when I looked around And saw the stars A voice from inside Said this place is not something That can be bought A freedom and an end To all of life Where the soul Can go beyond the sky Swim through the galaxy All your troubles Have gone awayyy Goodbye oh sweet lullaby I got the countdown And now I fly Goodbye oh sweet destiny The only way you can see me Is stare up In the night sky Goodbye oh sweet home I am now above the clouds And into eternity Years went by and I saw myself Deep beyond than any other man has gone Caught by a shooting star I had a collision course set in A comet streaked through the dark And was headed to put an end to my Destination Goodbye oh sweet lullaby I got the countdown And now I fly Goodbye oh sweet destiny The only way you can see me Is stare up In the night sky When you see me coming back down Don’t even roll out that red carpet Just close my eyes and send Me Away
