The Roundabout at Petit Bois Pass By James Albert Bosarge Jr. [Intro - Atmospheric ocean swells, crying acoustic guitar picking, weeping fiddle, low driving bass rhythm] [Verse 1] Out where the Mississippi Sound meets the open Gulf blue, Off Horn Island’s rugged edge in the salt-heavy dew. The old radar rig stood like steel on the deep, Where the currents run fast and the memories run deep. My brother Bobby called it the Roundabout, circling the core, As our father steered the wooden trawler right up to the door. With the doors and the nets dragging low on the sand, Scraping barnacles off of those iron legs grand. [Pre-Chorus] The whole boat would list till the gunwales dipped low, In the wake of a father who taught us where to go. Not turning away from the structure or strain, Riding the tilt through the salt and the rain! Three young boys on the bow watching waters collide, Learning courage and faith in the turn of the tide. [Chorus] That steel in the pass and those roots in the sea, Are the iron foundation He built inside me! No matter how hard the vessel may lean, By the grace of the Lord and the power unseen! Through the squall, through the gale, where the dark waters roll, The anchor of faith holds the weight of my soul! The compass is set and the colors unfurled— We’re Still Standing unbroken on top of the world! [Verse 2] Though the hurricane winds tore the coast through the years, And the waters were tested by sweat, blood, and tears. A father who leaned on the Lord through the tilt, Carried the burden, the trial, and the guilt. He built his sons up into men who would stand, With salt in our veins and the grit in our hands. The integrity, morals, and standards he set, Are the compass and lighthouse I’ll never forget. [Bridge] From the shores of the bayou, the pines on the coast, To the frontline of battles where men suffer most! When the waves try to swamp us and tear at the wood, We remember the ground where our heritage stood! A father’s devotion, a savior’s pure grace, No storm on this earth can erase or replace! Still Standing in faith through the wind and the wave, The lessons of honor he faithfully gave! [Guitar / Fiddle Solo - Electrifying, soaring Gulf Coast Southern Rock crescendo] [Chorus] That steel in the pass and those roots in the sea, Are the iron foundation He built inside me! [Outro] Out at Petit Bois Pass... Circling the Roundabout... Riding the tilt... Built to stand. Still Standing. (Acoustic guitar strum fades into ocean surf)
