Verse 1 I remember meeting you That time we were back in Timbucktu I'm swimming in the river, but you ignored me Just sitting there, watching you talk to your best friend Now we're strangers in this world that we created together You said you'd be by my side forever Always felt that we're a little diffrent But Timbucktu always brought us back together Verse 2 You and your best friend seem to be annoyed by me What did I do? What did I say? (Music playing) Just playing in the river Watching you and your best friend play soccer And talk for hours without an end Running through the fields under the blazing sun Wishing those moments were never done Chorus Oh, I miss Timbucktu, the imaginary place that you and me made together Saw the three of us in the river playing all day in school Having a simple wish Oh, I miss Timbucktu, the imaginary place that you and me made together The place that we made a promise Verse 3 (Side 2) To stick by each other's side forever Oh, don't you miss Timbucktu like I do? (Music playing) Wondering if you ever look back at the shore Or if those golden days don't matter anymore Walking down the path where we used to run Underneath the fading of the summer sun Bridge We used to laugh until our stomachs hurt Drawing our dreams right into the dirt But now the river flows cold and wide And I'm left standing on the other side Trying to catch a glimpse of what we used to be Before you walked away and forgot about me Chorus Oh, I miss Timbucktu, the imaginary place that you and me made together Saw the three of us in the river playing all day in school Having a simple wish Oh, I miss Timbucktu, the imaginary place that you and me made together The place that we made a promise Outro Back in Timbucktu... The place we made a promise. Just a simple wish. Yeah, we made a promise. ───
