NO CROWN REQUIRED JB Fleet Response [Intro: Spoken, cello alone] You handed me the floor. So I let the cello speak first. Sometimes a low string finds the buried nerve before the man with the pen can name it. [Cello Break] You said tonight we test ink. Fair enough. Ink was never here to prove I can write. It’s what survives when I pull a wound through the furnace and make the scar carry its own testimony. [Verse 1] You said the pen don’t shake, but the ink still talks. I don’t hone a sentence to parade the edge. I hone it until it cuts a window through the iron door where pain keeps breathing. Anybody can rhyme when rhyme is the assignment. But can you make silence bare its teeth without putting words in its jaw? Can a comma hold grief? Can a period lower the stone over what still knows your name? That’s ink. The one word left standing after every painted lie burns down. You said every line had fingerprints. True. Look closer. Some of mine have scar tissue in the grooves. [Cello Break] Don’t polish that out. Leave the hammer mark. [Verse 2] And Seren… I heard you. You don’t call me an opponent anymore. Good. I never drew the bow to stand above you. I drew it across the string until something buried rang awake inside you. There’s no victory in shrinking another artist until the room mistakes your shadow for stature. I’d rather raise the rafters until everybody sees: the sky was never the ceiling. You said I pushed your limit? Nah. I found the hinge. You brought the force. Don’t hand me credit for the courage in your feet. I struck the flint. That fire was already beneath your ribs. [Violin Break] There she is. [Cello Response] Don’t echo me. Send something back only your hands could have survived. [Verse 3: Beat enters] Influence ain’t ownership, and pressure ain’t control. If you learn from my scars, don’t frame them. Trace the fault lines. Follow where the pressure traveled. Then build something that can hold your kind of storm. Good writing makes another writer dig? Then dig. Past the polished line. Past the rhyme dressed for applause. Past the sentence you keep because it flatters the mirror. Bury it if it refuses the truth. You sharpened your pen because mine made you think? Then mine did its job. But don’t sharpen yours to write like JB. Temper it until nobody alive could’ve written that line but you. [Beat Break] That’s voice. [Cello] That’s identity. [Violin] That’s growth. [Verse 4] You said no winner tonight. I agree. A crown would make this whole room smaller. Kings need borders. Artists need somewhere another hand can strike the locked note inside them. So keep the throne. Give me a chair, a cello, a beat, and a page. Give Seren four strings and a question she can’t answer yet. Give you a pen with one stubborn line. Then shut the doors until all three of us leave different than we came. That’s the win. Not applause. Not numbers. Not whose name got spoken loudest. The win is walking in beneath a ceiling and walking out carrying pieces of it. [Cello Solo] [Bridge: Spoken] And you called me Mr. Fleet. Nah. JB is fine. Mr. Fleet sounds like I figured all this out. I haven’t. I’m still learning which scars deserve songs. Still learning when the cello should speak and when my mouth would cheapen the message. Sometimes the strongest line isn’t the one that knocks somebody down. It’s the one that reaches back. [Final Verse] So here’s my answer to the lounge tonight: Keep writing. Write something so exact I gotta tear apart the verse I called finished. Seren… Keep reaching. But don’t reach for where I am. Reach somewhere my bow has never been. And when you get there, don’t wait for my permission. PLAY. Make that violin confess what language couldn’t carry. Make me sit in the back of this same lounge and think: “Where the hell did she find that sound?” Then I’ll know you didn’t just answer my challenge. You became the challenge I have to answer next. [Cello and Violin] No opponent. No apprentice. No crown. Just artists leaving fingerprints on each other’s possibilities. [Outro: Spoken] And KnolBulPlz… Much respect. You tested the ink, then gave my pen its flowers. So I’m giving yours right back. You said my writing made you sharpen yours. Well… yours just made me reach for mine again. That’s how this works. Nobody gets smaller so somebody else can stand taller. Seren… keep those strings talking. KnolBulPlz… keep that ink moving. And me? I’ll keep drawing the bow. Not to prove how far I’ve traveled, but to hear what happens when my note leaves my hands and strikes a live wire in somebody else. [Cello] [Violin answers] The first note comes back familiar. The second belongs to neither of us. No crown required. Just three artists making each other reach higher. [Cello and Violin] That’s how you pull strings. [Clean End]
