[Verse 1] You left your umbrella Leaning by my door Little crooked rainbow On my dusty floor I said I’d text you But I never did Now it’s just a stranger Living where you lived [Chorus] This leftover umbrella Knows you better than I do Keeps your coffee stain and perfume Holds the shape of us in two If I see you in the weather Would I even say your name? Or just spin this old umbrella Till the sky forgets the rain [Verse 2] It rides in my hallway Like a quiet guest Opens when I’m lonely Closes on my chest Neighbors think it’s my thing Bright and unafraid They don’t see me hiding Under what you gave [Chorus] This leftover umbrella Knows you better than I do Keeps your coffee stain and perfume Holds the shape of us in two If I see you in the weather Would I even say your name? Or just spin this old umbrella Till the sky forgets the rain [Bridge] I should leave it at a bus stop Let the wind decide its fate But I’m standing in the porch light (yeah) Still rehearsing what I’d say [Chorus] This leftover umbrella Knows you better than I do Keeps your coffee stain and perfume Holds the shape of us in two If I see you in the weather Would I even say your name? Or just spin this old umbrella Till the sky forgets the rain
