(Half sing) We are alone all of us have thoughts dreams and wants that we never find the right time or the right person to share them with we go on hoping someone close to us or that we want to be close to will see the emptiness we've created by remaining ourselves To share these truths with an outsider would mean abandoning ourselves and allowing someone into our inner dimension Vulnerable to deceit and rejection we choose to accept our dreams as being unobtainable and ourselves unworthy of the joy our fears would bring. We deny ourselves happiness because of variables that we can not control but that can control us These truths would allow us to be manipulated by things or people that can't understand the way we need to receive what they perceive as gifts or the way to protect us while we open ourselves for fulfillment When we look inside ourselves and allow ourselves to see the truth which is us we find peace in trust, Love in humility, passion for life and the strength to look outside ourselves and display the things we've coveted. Alone in a crowd What does it mean That nobody knows you Or nobody sees The you behind the mask you wear Distorted perception Nothing is clear Hide behind morals, ethics and jokes Deceive your own spirit Betray your own ghost Never find comfort No one ever hears or asks your forgiveness Or shows you they care So make up a story Maybe they’ll like How you lost all your feeling On a fool that you liked I feel your pain I hear your thoughts Calm in control are what’s on top But the real you The one you call I Is pacing round your head I can see you in your eyes At first I thought you were it The one that would set me free A godess or a prophet A form of higher being But that image‘s been dismantled It was nothing I could trust My perceptions been altered By my lonliness at first She is unsure of everything And nothing ever goes her way There’s a cloud that rests above her head I think a storm is coming I think trouble blows in the wind And she can’t find her way She ‘s locked inside Caught by the rain Thunder pounds and lightning screams And she wants to run away I new you liked to be right all the time That’s why I told you I told you that lie The one that I said I new you wouldn’t stay And you told me you loved me And would never go away Now I can’t understand Why did you let yourself down I never heard you admit How you were wrong I have a condition All my dreams would have come true But I am lost without the feeling When I was loving you It wasn’t how you played me How you never even cared It wasmn’t how you had your way Then kicked me to the curb Cause I would sit for hours Waiting for you to arrive Or sit and wait for you all night Just to hear you lie Nothing up until now matters How can that be, can’t you see What the world has done to me It’s made me weak, made me sared Made me think noone cares About me and my life It’s not white or black or gray It’s not right, I just fight with myself Nothing seems wrong or ever is right Why the game or the test To much pain in the quest When you’re done nothings left And you tell me to stop Beating up on myself To do what I’m told To give up on whats left Of the life I am told Love is an illusion An addiction like a drug A commitment to the illusion Is a delusion called love What else do we know What is there we can say That love is truer when its dealt from up above And every one is different Love can never be the same Like a snowflake in a blizzard Or a drop of freezing rain I try not to think about it But once again I am in to deep Because I love you isn’t love It’s a statement that we speak And people say they love Just about everything Cars and friends and money Diamonds gold and a golf swing If love is such a good thing Whos to blame when it goes bad People drink, take drugs even kill themselves when love is taken from It’s not a thing that can be given So how can it be taken away It’s feeling just like sadness Depends on you to say Love is not for sale It can’t be bought or bartered for or sold It can’t be traded or gifted can’t be rented Philosophers tried to define Poets try to turn it in to words Religion’s claimed it for there own It’s a gift straight down from heaven Love has made them all look like fools Love is never seen or present Try and prove it is insane Do what you can with what you got Don’t ask for things You can’t care for Be your own boss Live on the streets Take what’s not given Blessed are the meek Not a verse in the bible Or a line in a song Where did it come from The word for a thong That’s right I said it Bout time someone did Panty line less panties Grooving aint groovy And swell is not cool Far out comes from hippies Who take acid at school
