On a day in the sun, we met many years ago, Where we’d been, we had no way to know. The blossoms opened, love poured like powdered roses, Then it darkened and our own storms left us stained. We set our paths and in different directions we aimed. Yet for unknown reasons we hung onto faint ties, Each wandering new ways, did the other see lies? Like a precious gem, with a flaw, we hold dear, Just as love recklessly got lost through fear. Yet for unknown reasons we hung onto faint ties, Forgiven and erased, we speak not of the cries. So where are we today in the face of all time? Somewhere between unspoken love and life defined. For that reason, we hung onto the heartstrings in time.
