[Acoustic guitar playing intimate] I have always trusted timetables, Neatly folded, safely planned. A little map inside my pocket, A destination in my hand. I know the names of all the stations, How long to stay, and when should I leave? But nothing in those careful pages Said a stranger should make me believe. I wasn't looking for a story, Or a reason to be brave. I was only trying to get somewhere... Now I wonder what I gave away. A single step can feel so small Until it's one you can't undo. Who was the girl across the aisle Before she smiled at someone new? Before she traded certainty For streets she never knew? She packed a future in her suitcase, She thought she knew where she belonged. Now she's following a conversation... How did she become so strong? He talks as if the world is listening, As if questions matter more. He notices forgotten buildings, Tiny cracks in every door. He makes ordinary evenings Feel like borrowed works of art. As though every passing stranger Carries someone's hidden heart. It's dangerous, I know it's dangerous, To feel familiar this fast. But maybe recognition isn't measured By the years that have already passed. Perhaps we meet some people late... Who somehow feel early. Who is this girl across the aisle Walking through Vienna's light? Laughing at impossible ideas, Stretching out the night. She thought she'd keep her distance, She thought she'd stay composed. Now every answer that she carried Feels beautifully exposed. What if home Isn't always a place? What if sometimes It's the feeling That someone is listening... Not waiting to speak. Just listening. And somehow, That makes the whole world A little less lonely. [Instrumental breaks - lasted one minute] I was the girl across the aisle Watching life through passing glass. Thinking every beautiful moment Wasn't built to last. Now every corner asks a question, Every heartbeat feels brand new. Maybe I didn't leave that train To follow him... Maybe I stepped off To finally meet The girl I was becoming, too. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” A musical adaptation of Richard Linklater's "Before" trilogy.
