School Mohan Biswas (English)
[Host:] Friends, today I will tell you the story of Mohan Biswas—a man who dreamed of breaking the shackles of darkness over a century ago. Back then, education was the exclusive right of the upper castes. One day, Mohan was beaten just for standing outside a temple to listen to the Gita. A teacher told him bluntly, "Education is not for you." That night, Mohan realized that an illiterate person is truly blind; they must rely on the mercy of others for their entire life. Right at that time, missionaries opened a school in the village. There was only one condition—to renounce old customs and religion. Defying the glares of society, Mohan made a courageous decision. He said, "It does not matter if I am outcasted, but my son must live with dignity." Many years later, when his educated son read a book aloud to him, tears flowed from Mohan’s eyes. He couldn't read the pages himself, but he had opened the path of light for his descendants. Today, the ease with which we go to school or get a library card is possible only because of the extraordinary sacrifices of ordinary people like Mohan. Remember, choosing truth over darkness was the greatest victory of his life.
