Back’s wrecked, shoulder won’t stop screaming
Two years feel like ten
woke up more tired than when I went to bed
smiled on cue, played the role

They said I wasn’t ("pulling enough")
like I didn’t bleed for that place
Team leader made up lies
and they listened
like I’d been fakin’ all along

They fired me quiet, no noise, no goodbye
like I didn’t matter
like I wasn’t breaking slow
No warnings — just a note
like a receipt
you get handed without lookin’

But I ain't gone
not all the way
got a lawyer who saw it clear
and now they pay
six months of silence
and I don’t have to show
not once
but I still feel the weight like I’m there

There’s dishes in the sink
I haven’t touched
wake up, forget what day it is
sit in the same hoodie
window closed, lights off
don’t even check the phone most days

Pain's got a voice now
not even a scream — more like a hum
low and steady
like it knows I gave up
before I was allowed to

But I signed that paper
and they signed it too
they called it (“a mutual end”)
but I know what it really is
damage control
with a smile on top

They fired me quiet, no fuss, no fight
but I still feel like I lost something
even though I stayed on the books
no desk, no boss, no forklift calls
but I still clock in
every night
in my head

They’re payin’ for my silence
but I won’t lie
This still hurts
even if I got the better side

Shoulda left years back
but where was I gonna go?
Rent don’t care if you’re broken
and pride don’t pay bills

Now I sit here
with time I didn’t ask for
and peace that don’t feel like peace
just empty space with a paycheck attached

Six more months
to breathe
to think
to feel like a person again
maybe

or maybe just six months
of bein’ a ghost
off the floor
but not really free
