When the Moon Came Over the

[Intro] [Verse 1] At noon the garden lost its blue A copper hush crossed every view The sparrows folded into the eaves And daylight thinned through silver leaves [Pre-Chorus] You took my hand beside the well We watched the ordinary world grow still [Chorus] When the moon came over the sun The day forgot what it had begun For one black hour, we stood as one Waiting for fire to return When the moon came over the sun I felt your heartbeat under my thumb The dark was deep, but it did not win A brighter morning waited within [Verse 2] The orchard wore a colder skin A ring of flame burned pale and thin The old clock stopped above the door Its brass hands asking nothing more [Pre-Chorus] You said, “Some lights are hidden, not gone” Then the first warm color carried on [Chorus] When the moon came over the sun The day forgot what it had begun For one black hour, we stood as one Waiting for fire to return When the moon came over the sun I felt your heartbeat under my thumb The dark was deep, but it did not win A brighter morning waited within [Bridge] Noon turned blue, the hills turned gray The birds held back their songs of day Then a thin gold thread broke through And every leaf remembered you [Chorus] When the moon came over the sun The day remembered what it had begun For one black hour, we stood as one Watching the fire return When the moon came over the sun The silence broke and the colors ran The dark was deep, but it did not win A brighter morning waited within [Instrumental] [Outro] The moon moved on across the blue The sun came back, and so did you The sun came back, and so did you
