[no Intro] [No opening] [Verse 1] I woke up with the morning Sunshine on my face Yesterday was heavy But today has different plans I put a record on Opened up the windows wide If joy comes knocking I’m gonna let her inside [Pre-Chorus] I’ve cried enough tears For a lifetime or two Now I’m saving some laughter For somebody new… Me. [Chorus] Joy anyway! I’m gonna sing anyway! Life tried to slow me down But I found another way Joy anyway! Come on and clap your hands! If my heart can keep on beating You know I’m gonna dance! [Verse 2] Now the kettle’s singing And the kitchen’s full of light Something changed inside me Somewhere in the night Gonna call up my sister Tell her, “Come on by” ’Cause a joy this big Was never meant to hide [Pre-Chorus] A little more laughter A little less fear Funny how hope sounds When it’s finally here [Chorus] Joy anyway! I’m gonna sing anyway! Life tried to slow me down But I found another way Joy anyway! Come on and clap your hands! If my heart can keep on beating You know I’m gonna dance! [Bridge] I spent too many days Waiting on tomorrow Now I’m dancing with today Ain’t got no time to borrow Every sunrise whispers “Child, you’re still alive.” And that’s enough To lift my hands And celebrate this life [Celebration Groove] (Background Vocals) Joy anyway… Joy anyway… Joy anyway… Come on… (Lead) I’ve been waiting all my life For a feeling like this (Background) Joy… Joy… (Lead) Now I’m dancing with tomorrow And I don’t wanna miss it (Background) Hey! Joy anyway! (Lead) Clap your hands if you’ve been broken Clap your hands if you’ve survived (Background) Everybody! (Lead) If you’re still here… (Background) You’re alive! (Lead) If you’re still dreaming… (Background) Keep the fire burning! [Final Chorus] Joy anyway! I’m gonna sing anyway! Life tried to slow me down But I found another way Joy anyway! Come on and clap your hands! If my heart can keep on beating You know I’m gonna dance! (Outro – Background Vocals) Joy anyway… Joy anyway… Keep on smiling… Keep on dancing… Joy anyway… [Fade with horns, tambourine, walking bass, and joyful harmonies.]
