He Who Does Not Wait

[intro] [Verse 1] I fell into a fever at fifteen Lay for hours, twenty on end Worried Eyes upon me as I shivered Attended by my lover, my friends Rose again a new person, quite alive No trace of dire infirmity Glad I didn't die, but if I'm being honest I'd love to be sick like that again [chorus] People are Kind when you're wounded At least the ones to keep The sort that will cool your brow And guard you while you sleep Times of peril often show Who'd move on and who'd Weep So speak your oaths and don't hesitate Cause the reaper is fickle with his sickle He who does not Warn He who does not Wait [Verse 2] Second chances don't often come Was given one, grabbed with both hands A lover turned friend turned lover again Those days were a treasure and quite mad The call came on a Wednesday Been at their side two sunsets past I howled to an indifferent sky Rage, sorrow, measure not to be had [chorus] People are Kind when you're wounded At least the ones to keep The sort that will cool your brow And guard you while you sleep Times of peril often show Who'd move on and who'd Weep So speak your oaths and don't hesitate Cause the reaper is fickle with his sickle He who does not Warn He who does not Wait [Verse 3] These moments come unannounced Where what's important is laid bare It's so simple to take for granted That while you're ready the time is there We spend our minutes with no guides To what sand remains in the hourglass Don't let slip past your numbered chances To let those who matter know you care! [chorus] People are Kind when you're wounded At least the ones to keep The sort that will cool your brow And guard you while you sleep Times of peril often show Who'd move on and who'd Weep So speak your oaths and don't hesitate Cause the reaper is fickle with his sickle He who does not Warn He who does not Wait [solo] [solo] [final chorus] People are Kind when you're wounded At least the ones to keep The sort that will cool your brow And guard you while you sleep Times of peril often show Who'd move on and who'd Weep So speak your oaths and don't hesitate Cause the reaper is fickle with his sickle He who does not Warn He who does not Wait
