[Narrator, male, warm storyteller] The road had changed its rhythm now, No longer loose and wide. Each step became a measured thing With meaning in its stride. For every object left behind No longer stayed as lost— It found a purpose in the minds That never counted cost. [Heroes, male group, structured chant] Nothing is forgotten here! All things return to fate! Each dropped and cast-off fragment Is part of what we make! [Steve, male, concerned, humble] You dropped your rope again. [Narrator, male, warm storyteller] A rope lay coiled beside the trail, Still dusty from the climb. Steve picked it up like he had done A dozen other times. But something shifted in the air That hadn’t been before— The way the heroes turned to him As something slightly more. [Hero, male, confident] The Keeper arrives. [Steve, male, concerned, humble] I’m not a keeper. [Heroes, male group, reverent chant] HE WHO RETURNS THE LOST PATH! [Narrator, male, warm storyteller] And Steve just blinked and held the rope Like it was nothing new. But now the world around him bent To what they thought was true. A simple act of giving back Became a sacred sign— That Steve was somehow meant to walk Between their broken lines. [Steve, male, concerned, humble] It’s just your rope. [Hero, male, confident] It has returned when destiny required it. [Steve, male, concerned, humble] I handed it to you ten seconds ago. [Narrator, male, warm storyteller] The bodhrán slowed into a pulse More steady than before. Not travel now, but certainty That something kept the score. Each item Steve returned to them Rewrote the road they walked— As if reality itself Adjusted when they talked. [Heroes, male group, chanting rising] THE KEEPER OF RETURNING! THE HAND THAT RESTORES THE LOST! THE THREAD THAT BINDS THE JOURNEY NO MATTER WHAT IT COST! [Steve, male, concerned, humble] I’m just picking things up. [Hero, male, confident] He speaks in understatement! [Steve, male, concerned, humble] I speak in reality. [Narrator, male, warm storyteller] And somewhere in that growing myth A shift began to show— That Steve was no longer ignored But strangely central now. Not leader. Not chosen. Not king. But something in between— The only one still anchored to The world as it was seen. [Steve, male, concerned, humble] Why are you all doing that chant thing now? [Heroes, male group, structured chant] WE HONOR THE RETURNER! [Steve, male, concerned, humble] I’m going to stop returning things. [Heroes, male group, immediate panic chant] THE FLOW OF FATE MUST NOT BE BROKEN! [Narrator, male, warm storyteller] And so he didn’t stop at all. He simply carried on— While every object lost became A symbol once it’s gone. And Steve began to realize A truth both strange and plain: The more he fixed their simple mess… The worse their myth became. [Steve, male, concerned, humble] I think you’re making this worse on purpose. [Heroes, male group, fading chant] WE DO NOT MAKE… WE INTERPRET… [Steve, male, concerned, humble] That’s the same thing.
