(Isaiah 38:9–20)

Hezekiah's Song of Praise (Isaiah 38:9–20) (Verse 1) I thought I would die in the midst of my days, A prisoner to the grave below. I thought I'd no longer behold the Lord, Nor walk with those on earth I know. My dwelling was taken like a shepherd's tent, Rolled up and carried far away. Like cloth cut free from the weaver's loom, My life seemed ending day by day. (Verse 2) Until the morning I waited in pain, As though a lion crushed my bones. I cried like a swallow, mourned like a dove, My weary eyes looked up alone. "O Lord, I am oppressed," my spirit cried, "Be Thou my help, my sure defence." What can I answer? You have spoken, Lord; My soul walks humbly in Your hand. (Chorus) Jesus Christ, our Righteousness, By Your wounds our souls are healed. You entered death and rose again; In You God's saving love revealed. You bore our sins, You conquered the grave, Our living Hope for evermore. Jesus Christ, our Righteousness, We'll praise Your name for evermore. (Verse 3) Your word gives life; Your hand restores; You made me live and gave me peace. What seemed so bitter proved my good; Your faithful love brought sweet release. You cast my sins behind Your back; You saved my soul from death's deep pit. Your mercy held me in Your grace; My heart will never cease to sing. (Verse 4) (Instrumental break) The grave cannot give thanks to You; The silent pit cannot proclaim. But those who live shall praise the Lord, And tell their children of Your name. You, Lord, have come to rescue me; So all my days with joyful voice, Within Your house with strings we'll sing, And in Your saving grace rejoice. (Final Chorus) Jesus Christ, our Righteousness, Death has lost its fear and sting. The Living One has conquered all; To Him alone our hearts now sing. Forever saved by grace alone, Redeemed by Christ, God's spotless Lamb. Jesus Christ, our Righteousness, Our life, our song, the great I AM. (Instrumental fade-out)
