The Lost Civilization
[OPENING — THE VOICE BENEATH THE EARTH] (Starts immediately. No instrumental intro.) Deep male voice, ancient and resonant: Before the kingdoms fell… Before the names were lost… Before the world forgot… WE WERE. (A distant female voice answers from the darkness.) We were… We are… We remember… (A low, otherworldly choir begins to hum.) [ANCIENT CALL — THE FIRST AWAKENING] Male Lead: Eyaaa… ohhh… Female Voice: Aaaah… eyaaa… Male Lead: Who remembers the beginning? Choir: WE REMEMBER! Male Lead: Who carries the ancient flame? Choir: WE CARRY THE FLAME! (A single deep ceremonial drum sounds.) [VERSE 1 — BEFORE THE WORLD FORGOT] Before the ink, before the page, Before the world was taught to name, There stood a people beneath the sun, With ancient wisdom, we were one. The stars were maps across the skies, The rivers held our lullabies. Stone spoke secrets, fire knew, The sacred knowledge we once grew. Oh, can you hear it underground? The sleeping kingdom makes a sound. Beneath the dust, beneath the stone, The ancient spirit calls us home. [PRE-CHORUS — THE MEMORY RETURNS] Can you hear the mountains calling? Can you hear the rivers sing? Can you feel the earth remembering Everything we used to be? (Female harmonies rise.) We were never born from darkness… We were never born to fall… There is something deep within us… Something older than it all. [CHORUS — AWAKEN, AFRICA] AWAKEN, AFRICA! Let the ancient heavens rise! AWAKEN, AFRICA! Let the truth return to life! From the kingdoms lost in silence, From the wisdom buried deep, There is fire within our spirit, There are promises to keep. AWAKEN, AFRICA! Let the sleeping giants rise! Our civilization lives! Our civilization never dies! [POST-CHORUS — ANCIENT CHANT] (Deep male chant, female responses, talking drums and mbira.) Eya mama… eya mama… Ohhh, aya eh… Eya mama… eya mama… The earth remembers… The sky remembers… The children must remember… (The drums answer the voices.) [VERSE 2 — THE KINGDOM BENEATH THE SANDS] Beneath the sands, the stories sleep, In sacred stones and memories deep. The walls may crumble, kings may fade, But not the dreams our hands once made. We built with vision, carved with grace, Left our questions in time and space. And though the years have veiled our past, The roots of greatness still hold fast. From ancient cities to the sea, There lives a truth we need to see. Our history is not a chain— We rise to learn, rebuild, reclaim. [BRIDGE — THE VOICE OF THE ANCIENTS] (The percussion disappears. One ethereal female voice sings over a distant flute and low atmospheric drones.) Child of the earth… Remember your name… Child of the sun… Remember your flame… You are the river… You are the tree… You are the story That time could not keep… (A distant choir enters, slowly growing.) Do not awaken only to remember… Awaken to build what comes after… Do not look backward and remain there… Carry the wisdom into tomorrow… [THE GREAT AWAKENING — EPIC CHORUS] (Massive ceremonial drums, orchestral strings, layered male and female voices.) RISE! Let the ancient fire burn! RISE! Let the lost wisdom return! RISE! Let the sleeping world see! The future begins with you and me! We are the children of the sunrise! We are the keepers of the flame! No longer strangers to our history! We will remember every name! AWAKEN, AFRICA! LET YOUR VOICE SHAKE THE SKY! OUR CIVILIZATION LIVES! OUR SPIRIT WILL NEVER DIE! [FINAL CHANT — THE ETERNAL MEMORY] (The orchestra gradually falls away, leaving drums, kora, mbira and voices.) Male Lead: Who are we? Choir: THE CHILDREN OF THE DAWN! Male Lead: What do we carry? Choir: THE WISDOM OF THE AGES! Male Lead: What do we become? Choir: THE BUILDERS OF TOMORROW! (The female voice rises into a long, heavenly note.) Eyaaa… ohhh… Aaaah… aya eh… The earth remembers… The stars remember… And now… WE REMEMBER. [OUTRO — THE EARTH BREATHES] (Distant wind, flowing water, birds at dawn. A final soft mbira note.) Whispered male voice: The civilization was never only in the stones… It lives in what we choose to become. (Silence.)
