Back In The Day (Cover)

[Verse 1] We'd wake up on a Saturday morning, Cartoons on the tube, no warning, Mama said, "Be home 'fore the streetlights glow," But till then, we had nowhere to go. Ridin' bikes through the neighborhood, Everybody knew everybody was good, Pocket full of dreams and a radio loud, Just a bunch of young souls lost in the crowd. [Pre-Chorus] No cell phones ringing, No social media singing, Just real-life memories we made, Every single day. [Chorus] We were chillin' back in the day, Summer nights and Marvin Gaye, Boom box bumpin' on the corner all night, Everything felt so right. Chillin' back in the day, Roller skates and arcade games, We didn't know it then, but now I can say, Those were the good old days. [Verse 2] Friday night at the skating rink, Trying to get the courage just to say what I think, Slow jam came on, lights got low, That's when we'd hit that couples' flow. Fresh Adidas and a Kangol hat, Everybody thought they were all that, The DJ scratchin' records on the one and two, Playing all the jams we knew. [Pre-Chorus] The Gap Band was groovin', Everybody was movin', Nobody worried 'bout tomorrow, Just dancing away our sorrow. [Bridge] Cookouts in the park, Stayin' out till dark, Laughing with the crew, Making memories that still feel new. No GPS directions, Just neighborhood connections, A whole lot less money, But life felt rich, honey. [Breakdown] (Everybody say!) Back in the day! (Back in the day!) Put your hands up high! Wave 'em side to side! [Final Chorus] We were chillin' back in the day, Earth, Wind & Fire used to play, Windows rolled down on a summer night, Everything felt so right. Chillin' back in the day, Those memories never fade away, And every time that old groove starts to play, I'm right back in the day. [Outro] Back in the day... Back in the day... Still got that funk inside of me... Back in the day...
