Christmas Isn’t Christmas (Til You’re Here)

[INTRO bright four-bar build, piano and muted synth bells, filtered drums, sleigh bells fading in, open into full band] [VERSE 1 soft, intimate female vocal over piano and light drums] Fairy lights are hanging round the door Burnt the gingerbread on the kitchen floor TV playing all the old repeats But it’s just me and these empty seats [PRE-CHORUS drums tighten, guitars lift slightly] I wrapped up all the years we’ve shared But it only shines when you’re standing there [CHORUS full band, sleigh bells, stacked harmonies] Christmas isn’t Christmas til you’re here Till you walk in through that doorway and you pull me near Keep the snow and mistletoe and cheer If you’re not standing by my side this year I don’t need a million stars above You’re the only light I’m thinking of Christmas isn’t Christmas, that’s the truth my dear Christmas isn’t Christmas til you’re here [BRIDGE breakdown, kick and claps, then small build] Maybe you’re stuck out in the snow On a late-night train running slow I’ll leave the hallway light on bright Till you come home through the cold tonight [FINAL CHORUS biggest energy, add choir “oohs” and ad-libs] Christmas isn’t Christmas til you’re here Till you walk in through that doorway and you pull me near Keep the snow and mistletoe and cheer If you’re not standing by my side this year I don’t need a million stars above You’re the only light I’m thinking of Christmas isn’t Christmas, whisper in my ear Christmas isn’t Christmas til you’re here [OUTRO band drops to piano and soft bells, lead repeats hook softly once] Christmas isn’t Christmas til you’re here
