[Verse 1] This troubled world has sorrows enough to fill the widest riverbed And the worries fear and torment, that would slay a giant haunt your head The news of the day are filled with greed and gain, of war and of bloodshed Yet all of this misery, this pain and woe, cannot eclipse the words our Saviour said…. [Pre-Chorus] What did He say?.... [Chorus] You’ll endure trials and tribulation The rising up of nation against nation The ground beneath you will quake The hearts inside you often break… But after this, when things don’t go your way [spoken]I promise… to be with you… Forever, and a day…. [spoken]I promise… [resume song] to be with you… Forever, and a day…. [Verse 2] The city lights of this world are often warmed with a soft but sinister glow Yet fortune-seekers venture, where, the bravest of men would never dare to go The façade of many a house are grander than the inside that’s only built for show But above the din and sin, the ungodly fashion fair, there’s a truth that all should know.. [Pre-Chorus] What should we know?.... [Chorus] You’ll endure trials and tribulation The rising up of nation against nation The ground beneath you will quake The hearts inside you often break… But after this, when things don’t go your way [spoken]I promise… to be with you… Forever, and a day….
