[Intro] [Verse 1] I ain’t lazy, I ain’t lying I’ve been almost starting all day Got my boots on by the doorway But my mind done wandered away Just ten more minutes, I say Then I’ll make my move Just ten more minutes, babe Then I’ll find my groove [Pre-Chorus] But ten turns twenty And twenty turns night My hand on the handle My brain takes flight I swear I’m right there Right there every time Then I blink and the moment Slips clean out of my mind [Chorus - lead vocal with backing vocals on hook] I’m almost getting started Almost getting started I’m almost getting started Then I lose the thread Almost getting started Almost getting started I’m almost getting started But I’m still in my head [Instrumental Break] [Verse 2] The coffee’s gone cold on the windowsill A hundred tabs in my brain Half a note on the table And a dozen little waves of shame I open one thing, then another Then I chase a shiny thought I got plans in neat little folders I just can’t make my body walk [Pre-Chorus] But ten turns twenty And twenty turns night My hand on the handle My brain takes flight I swear I’m right there Right there every time Then I blink and the moment Slips clean out of my mind [Chorus - lead vocal with backing vocals on hook] I’m almost getting started Almost getting started I’m almost getting started Then I lose the thread Almost getting started Almost getting started I’m almost getting started But I’m still in my head [Instrumental Break] [Break] [Bridge - phone take, intimate, slightly distorted, close and dry] Call me back to motion Call me back by name Break it down small enough So I can beat the game One tiny step One tiny win If I get moving, baby I can get back in... [Instrumental Break] [Final Chorus - bigger, stacked backing vocals] (I’m almost getting started) Almost getting started (I’m almost getting started) Then I lose the thread (Almost getting started) Almost getting started (I’m almost getting started) But I’m still in my head I ain’t lazy, I ain’t lying I was almost getting started Almost getting started
