Promises, they come cheap, But never quite the ones we keep. They say the struggle builds the man, But how much weight can shoulders stand? The clock keeps ticking, wages thin, A race we run, but never win. [Pre-Chorus] Oh, they say, "Stay strong, stay proud," But the noise drowns the crowd. We scream for answers, scream for change, But the voices feel so strange. [Chorus] Make me wanna holler, throw up both my hands, The way the world just misunderstands. These broken systems, these crooked plans, They weigh me down like sinking sand. Oh, it’s heavy, it’s heavy. Oh, it’s heavy, it’s heavy. [Verse 2] Steel bars and empty streets, Promises broken beneath our feet. Prices rise, our spirits fall, Can’t find solace in it all. They teach us to obey the game, But the players never take the blame. They write the rules, they write the laws, But who will fight for our cause? [Pre-Chorus] Oh, they say, "Hold fast, hold on," But the night feels twice as long. We call for justice, we call for peace, But our cries bring no release. [Chorus - Extended] Make me wanna holler, throw up both my hands, The way the world just misunderstands. These broken systems, these crooked plans, They weigh me down like sinking sand. Make me wanna scream, make me wanna cry, The way they leave us here asking why. Oh, it’s heavy, it’s heavy. Oh, it’s heavy, it’s heavy. [Bridge] Can’t afford the time, can’t afford the fight, But it’s the only way to make it right. For every voice that fades away, We’ll keep on rising, come what may. We march through the fire, we march through the pain, Chasing the sun through the cold and the rain. [Chorus - Finale] Make me wanna holler, throw up both my hands, The way the world just misunderstands. These broken systems, these crooked plans, They weigh me down like sinking sand. Make me wanna scream, make me wanna cry, The way they leave us here asking why. Oh, it’s heavy, it’s heavy. Oh, it’s heavy, it’s heavy. [End]
