[Verse] Got a question in my head it’s tough to resolve I need a test to help me evolve Null hypothesis standing tall Claiming no effect No change at all Confidence interval drawing the line 95 percent Looking mighty fine The truth hides somewhere in that range Or maybe it’s time for things to change [Prechorus] Set the alpha low Keep it tight 0.05 feels just right Gather data Hold it close Time to see what matters most [Chorus] Reject or fail to reject the null The test statistic's got a story to tell P-value drops The tension swells One-sample z test Ringing the bell [Verse 2] Mean of the sample Mean of the claim Subtract them out The test’s in the game Divide by the error Watch it unfold The z-score rises The truth is told Critical value It draws the line Compare the z Is it left or right? If it’s far enough We’ll reject today If it’s too close The null might stay [Prechorus] Set the alpha low Keep it tight 0.05 feels just right Gather data Hold it close Time to see what matters most [Chorus] Reject or fail to reject the null The test statistic's got a story to tell P-value drops The tension swells One-sample z test Ringing the bell [Bridge] Now heed a warning, clear and plain The null's the only thing we test, my friend The alternative's left in the end Certainty's a dream we can't pretend That 95 percent, a choice we made An arbitrary line, in truth's parade So keep in mind through all the stress We're never 100% sure, just our best guess [Chorus] Reject or fail to reject the null The test statistic's got a story to tell P-value drops The tension swells One-sample z test Ringing the bell
