Nightmare ~ Bisectris ~ (c) 2017-07-07
Peeking into my soul sometimes, Lost in this messy life of mine, I never really know for sure, What I’ll find if I dig a little more. In the closet—skeletons, dogs asleep, Monsters hiding where the shadows creep… Or maybe a dandelion will bloom, Breaking free from the stony gloom. And staring into that deep black hole, Trying to catch even a sliver of soul, I wanna find a big bouquet of blooms, Lost among the mean dogs and skeleton tombs. Lighting a candle in a rush, I wander through closets dark and hush. Not knowing what’s hidden in the chests, Under lids heavy, in endless rests. In the flicker of flame here and there, Reflections jump in mirrored lairs. And in some, I think I can see, A little movement of the soul in me. Shadows dart in corners quick, Hiding from the candle’s flick. And suddenly behind my back they rise, Like wings on nocturnal, silent flies. But when I turn my head around, The shadows vanish, without a sound… And I swear the light will finally stay, If only I crawl under the covers and lay. Waking early from the sun’s rude grin, Making faces through the window thin, I think, “What the hell, what a freakin’ scene, To dream this mess after every wild night I’ve been.”
