(Heavy, grinding, down-tuned guitar riff kicks in, slow and deliberate like a machine struggling to start. The drums join with a powerful, stomping beat. Think Alice in Chains meets Black Sabbath.) (Verse 1) I used to have everything until I let it get away Everything a man could want, served right on a plate But I had a head-load of troubles and couldn't kick my blues It got so much worse when COVID hit the news Took all my strength and might just to make it through the day My engine used to run on time, now it was running late Fucking depression is more than a word It's a fucking feeling that swallows your whole world I couldn't talk to her about it, I just pushed her away That was going to leave me with a heavy price to pay (Pre-Chorus) (Music builds, palm-muted guitars chugging faster, bass drum hitting double-time) She saw the storm clouds gathering deep inside my eyes She tried to reach right through the anger and the lies But I built a wall of static, a fortress made of stone And screamed at her in silence, "Just leave my hell alone!" (Chorus) (The song explodes into a full-throttle, roaring chorus. Guitars are thick with distortion, vocals are raw and strained) I paid the price in silence, in the echoes of her name! And this goddamn depression is the only one to blame! I watched her walk away, watched my whole world fall apart Now I'm just a broken man with a black and heavy heart! (Verse 2) (Music drops back to the heavy, grinding groove of the verse) The coffee's always cold now, the other side of bed is, too The quiet in this empty house just screams the ugly truth I trace the lines she left here, a ghost in every room Just me and all my demons in a self-inflicted tomb I punch the walls until my knuckles bleed and crack 'Cause I know deep down I'm the reason she ain't ever coming back (Pre-Chorus) (Music builds again, more aggressively this time) She saw the man I could be, the one I used to be She fought a war to save me, a war I couldn't see! But I surrendered to the darkness, I let the venom in A battle I was losing before it could begin! (Chorus) (Even bigger and more desperate than before) I paid the price in silence, in the echoes of her name! And this goddamn depression is the only one to blame! I watched her walk away, watched my whole world fall apart Now I'm just a broken man with a black and heavy heart! (Bridge) (Tempo slows to a crawl, a clean, echoing guitar melody plays over a heavy, droning bass line) She was the light... she was the only way... And I'm the fool... who told the light not to stay... I told the light... NOT TO STAY! (Guitar Solo) (A blistering, emotional guitar solo erupts. It's not just fast, it's full of rage and pain—wailing string bends, aggressive dive bombs, and melodic phrases that sound like screaming.) (Chorus) (The band crashes back in for the final, gut-punch chorus. Vocals are shredded, almost screaming) I PAID THE PRICE IN SILENCE, IN THE ECHOES OF HER NAME! AND THIS GODDAMN DEPRESSION IS THE ONLY ONE TO BLAME! I WATCHED HER WALK AWAY, WATCHED MY WHOLE WORLD FALL APART! NOW I'M JUST A BROKEN MAN WITH A BLACK AND HEAVY HEART! (Outro) (The main riff returns, slower and heavier than ever, grinding down) A heavy price to pay... (Guitar chugs) I pushed her away... (Feedback swells and holds) A heavy price... to... pay... (A final, massive, distorted power chord rings out and cuts abruptly to silence.)
