Nightstone Under Moonlight
[Verse 1] We rode for gold to Nightstone’s gate, through mist and winter rain, For Lady Nandar’s promised coin and word to end the pain. But when we came, the bridge lay low, the village stood alone, With hurried tracks that fled northbound and smaller prints of bone. The streets were still, the doors were torn, the market left to die, Then from the square two worgs leapt forth beneath the darkened sky. [Chorus] Oh Nightstone, Nightstone, what shadow came this way? Your halls lie cold, your people gone before the break of day. We came for silver, came for fame, for glory to be won— But all we found in Nightstone town was fear beneath the sun. [Verse 2] We drove the goblins from the lanes, from rooftops, carts, and walls, Past broken stone and shattered glass in empty merchant halls. And in the square a hollow stood where something once had been, Though none could name what filled that place, nor what it might have meant. An inn still burned with candlelight upon its upper floor, A wandering monk with guarded eyes stood waiting by the door. She spoke too smooth, she smiled too quick, her story thin and pale— So bound in rope we took her in before she slipped the trail. [Chorus] Oh Nightstone, Nightstone, what shadow came this way? Your halls lie cold, your people gone before the break of day. We came for silver, came for fame, for glory to be won— But all we found in Nightstone town was fear beneath the sun. [Verse 3] We sought the crypt for buried gold beneath the chapel stone, But iron doors and ancient wards denied us what was shown. So then we crossed the broken keep where splintered bridges swayed, And one by one through fear and fall the leap was finally made. Four weary guards still held the wall with steel and fading breath, Beside them lay fair Nandar cold and silent now in death. One hand reached down to take her ring, the guards cried out in rage— And steel near flashed in torchlit halls like wolves within a cage. [Chorus] Oh Nightstone, Nightstone, what shadow came this way? Your halls lie cold, your people gone before the break of day. We came for silver, came for fame, for glory to be won— But all we found in Nightstone town was fear beneath the sun. [Final Verse] Before the night could grant us rest, before the fire burned low, There came six blades and one dark man the moonlight seemed to know. His name was Xolkin, hard of eye, with bandits at his side, He claimed this town for some great boss and spoke with wounded pride. “For one among you stole my heart, now give my Kella back...” His voice rang out through Nightstone’s keep, then silence answered black. [Final Chorus] Oh Nightstone, Nightstone, your story’s just begun, For darker roads and stranger foes still wait beyond the sun. The bridge hangs low, the night grows deep, the wolves still call the stone— And we must face what comes next… before the dawn has shown.
