Exodus-Chapter 13

The transmission reached the Federation Council within hours. Halix’s report was clear: ---the Vatrin civilization was real,-- sentient, ---and facing extinction. Their planet, --Vatrax, --was in the final stages of solar collapse. --The request was not for rescue.-- It was for continuance. The Council convened under Evacuation Protocol 7. ---The vote passed unanimously. The Vatrin were granted refugee status. --Federation ships were dispatched. --Earth was notified. The public response was immediate. News outlets ran footage of Dru Baldwin alive, --walking among the Vatrin, --guiding them through corridors of glass. The entity appeared in several clips---towering, --slow-moving, --docile. ---A child’s voice in the crowd asked Is it hers? The answer was never given. On Earth, --offers of land and assistance poured in. ---One delegation stood out. ---Dru’s parents. They traveled to the Federation capital, carrying a proposal: ---settlement rights in the Badlands. The region had once been deemed uninhabitable--dry, cracked,-- forgotten. ---But it was vast. --Stable. --And waiting. They spoke before the Council. We welcome them her father said. ---Even the creature that carried Dru. The chamber was silent. Then the vote passed. The evacuation began. Federation ships entered orbit above Vatrax.---The Vatrin emerged slowly--reverently--carrying resonance stones and memory gliphs. They moved in silence, --guided by har-monic cues and Dru’s presence. Halix watched her work.--- She was changed. --Not distant. --Just deeper. He asked if she would return to Earth. She said I’ll go where they go. The first ship landed in the Badlands. The soil was dry.--- The wind was sharp. ---The sky was wide. The entity stepped out,--- blinking in sunlight. A child offered it water.
