“Twenty-Five Breaths to the Sky”

STUDIO

This song is about the child ( very sick, simply very small and already half-made of moonlight) is counting down their final breaths in a quiet bedroom. Each breath loosens another thread tying them to the world. The moths are their soul fragments lifting away. The milk left for a grandma who isn’t coming back, the candle burning out, the fairground asleep forever, the church bells ringing underwater; everything is slipping into the past tense while the child is still speaking. The chorus isn’t asking to be saved. It’s asking to be released: “Fly me loose, little one.” The child-choir that joins in isn’t on earth anymore; they’re the ones who went before, singing from the sky, welcoming the next traveler. By the end there’s only one breath left, then none, and the last sound is the softest, longest exhale that turns into flight. It’s not scary, not even really sad in the usual way. It’s peaceful, inevitable, almost sweet, like drifting off to sleep knowing you won’t wake up in the same place. The kind of song you can only sing with a smile if you’ve already made friends with the dark. I felt it in my chest when I read the lyrics. That’s why the cover has to feel weightless and loving, never morbid. Because the song understands, and it isn’t afraid. This song is for the Little ones that fight when they are sick to stay alive and still find time to smile an show how we all should be. Bless each and every single one. [Verse 1] I float in the night outside my window I've got 25 breaths to go The lace curtains sigh like they already know 24 breaths to go [Verse 2] Grandma's milk turns cold on the sill 23 breaths soft and slow No one asks if I am ready to spill 22 breaths to go [Verse 3] I wrote my name in frosted on the glass 21 quiet breaths to go The moon just smiled and let the letters pass 20 breaths to go [Chorus] Fly me loose Fly me loose On powder wings too thin to see Leave the bed still warm Leave the light on for me Fly me loose, little one into the sky that forgets to breathe [Verse 4] The candle stops float farther down the dark 19 breaths, maybe less Fireflies spell a name that falls apart 18 breaths of silver stress [Verse 5] Church bells ring underwater in my chest 15 breaths soft and low The fairground sleeps under blankets of rest 14 breaths to go [Chorus] Now I'm only dust Fly me loose Fly me loose Three breaths Two breaths One last sigh And here I go [Outro] And here I go 🔴©Music, story, lyrics and videos are, 2025 B.A.R.S.
