Snowdrops on the Cup’s Edge
Well, I guess the kettle clicks and quits on seven I’m staring at the counter, uh, counting the cracks There’s a mug I chipped in Boulder with a spoon too hard Steam leans my way like it’s got a question I forgot to answer yesterday The leaves look like they’re thinking, not moving much I close my eyes anyway, just to see if they will I guess I travel better when I don’t pack a bag Just the scent doing most of the work Snowdrops falling on an emerald lake That’s what the cup says if you wait Not a promise, not a map, just heat in my hands I guess I’m here, well, wherever that lands There’s jasmine in the air, and I’m not naming it My nose does the remembering, I stay quiet The room feels wider than the walls admit I hear a bus go by like it’s leaving without me That’s fine, I wasn’t dressed for it A postcard forms, then gets spilled on Tea ring says hello to the table Uh, I thought about tomorrow Then the cup cooled me down Snowdrops falling on an emerald lake It keeps happening when I blink Not a story, not a cure, just time behaving I guess I’m sitting still, and that’s taking me places There’s a last sip that tastes like the edge of something I won’t say what The cup stays warm a second longer than it should [Words, Production, and Direction by Noizgenie.] [Cover Art Direction by Noizgenie. © 2026 Noizgenie.]
