Don’t Be So Dramatic

+ Show full styles

[Verse 1 – dry, sarcastic, worn-out] I’m always available, never busy, My problems apparently don’t exist. Your crisis? Drop it on my doorstep, Mine? “Yeah… but you’ll live.” I cancel plans, I bend my spine, Because helping you is “just who I am”. But if I say I’m not okay today, Suddenly I’m weak, or I’m “overreacting again”. [Pre-Chorus – ironic, mock-calm] They love my strength As long as I don’t use it for myself. [Chorus – dark humor, bitter, half-laughing] Don’t be so dramatic, they say, It’s not that bad, you’re fine, okay? Your life’s on fire? That’s just stress. Smile more, cry less. Don’t be so dramatic, relax, Other people got bigger cracks. So shut it down, don’t make a scene, Suffer politely, keep it clean. [Verse 2 – playful, cynical, cracked smile] If I take a break, I’m selfish now, If I say no, I “changed somehow”. Funny how “think of yourself” Only applies to everybody else. I’m strong, dependable, always there, Basically emotional furniture. Lean on me, but don’t ask twice What it costs me to be this nice. [Pre-Chorus – sarcastic realization] Apparently I’m built to bend, Not to break, not to need, not to end. [Chorus – upbeat tone, savage lyrics] Don’t be so dramatic, calm down, You’re ruining the mood right now. Your collapse is kind of inconvenient, Can you do that… less visibly? Don’t be so dramatic, behave, Be the hero, be the brave. Just bleed inside, don’t let it show, We like you better when you cope. [Bridge – spoken, dark comedy] It’s funny… I’m everyone’s safe place, But apparently I don’t get one. [Final Chorus – darkly playful, quietly angry] Don’t be so dramatic, I’m okay, I’ve mastered suffering the right way. Always there, never enough, Too sensitive, but also too tough. So if one day I disappear, They’ll say “we never saw it coming, weird”. But hey, at least I didn’t complain. At least I stayed convenient in pain.
