He’s Been Here the Whole Time

[Verse 1] they tore the place apart in sections checked every aisle and every line went through the docks and all the racks like they had all the time they said he had to be somewhere like he couldn’t just be gone but every place they thought to look he was already moving on [Chorus] he’s been here the whole time working like he always does checkin’ trucks and signing papers like it’s nothing to discuss he’s been here the whole time we just never saw it clear turns out the thing we were missing was already right here [Verse 2] Receiving said he signed the logs battery shop said the same freezer aisle saw him pass through but nobody called his name vendor trucks keep getting checked in dock doors open and close every shift he’s somewhere working that’s just how it goes [Chorus] he’s been here the whole time working like he always does checkin’ trucks and signing papers like it’s nothing to discuss he’s been here the whole time we just never saw it clear turns out the thing we were missing was already right here [Bridge] maybe it wasn’t disappearing maybe it was just our eyes looking past the one man working through the noise and through the lies [Instrument Break] [Final Chorus] he’s been here the whole time from the first shift to today never really went nowhere just kept working anyway he’s been here the whole time and now it all makes sense Tony never disappeared at all we just weren’t paying attention [Outro Spoken – Warehouse Dialogue] [Coworker 1] "so we spent all day looking for him?" [Coworker 2] "yeah." [Coworker 1] "and he was here?" [Coworker 2] "yep." (long pause) [Coworker 1] "...doing what?" [Coworker 2] "working." (Coffee sip) (keys jingle somewhere close, not moving away) [Coworker 1] "...that sounds like Tony." [Fade Out]
