[Intro] [clean electric guitar chords, boom bap drums, electric bass] Uh-huh, gonna do a song, yeah. Uh-huh. Tape, grab a plane in the background when it's done. We might move on to the next sound, next beat down, next pound. Come on. [Verse 1] [spoken word male vocals] Trying to get down some pounds, walking every day. Sleeping in sometimes. After work we gotta get a couple miles in, gotta walk around the sun, gotta walk around. Even though my feet are burning, the soles on my rubber shoes, they're melting. They're becoming part of the asphalt, part of the sidewalk, part of the gravel. Yeah, uh, yeah. Here we go, another round. Come on. We're trying to find a lost sound. Yeah, it's a space journey, epic saga. Uh, don't forget the Hershey's, the kisses, the love. Don't forget who's up above. Yeah, we're in space, flying around, intergalactic escapades. Hip hop all around, yeah we're gonna spread the message of boom bap across the universe. Yeah, like the Beatles, bruh. Uh. I love strawberries, I love watermelon. Not like watermelon like, no like literally. Kind of like that one kid really likes corn. I really like watermelon. And like anything that like makes you think of summer, like corn, hot dogs, hamburgers. You know, when I was a kid all the hamburgers were wrong, like too big for the buns we had, but that's how you know it's home cooking, you know? It's a little different, a little different than what you get out in the commercial world. Kind of like alternate cooking, alternate food, but really it's the stuff at home. I'm trying to make alternate music, but like really it's just the music at home. Dang, okay. So the beat goes really quick, but that's okay because we're ready to rock with it. We're gonna rap on top of the mic tonight. Got my GarageBand playing in the back room, uh, in the bedroom, hype. Yeah, it's a GarageBand sound, uh-huh, trying to help you find the lost and found. Trying to bring back the music from when I was younger. Used to play in like different situations with a live drummer, you know? Uh, got your hi-hats on the left, got the snare drum in the front, in the center, that's the best, and the toms, they go all the way around to the right. Then we bring it back down to the kick drum, to the bass thump, to the here we go with the rhythm in the bass drum, with the bass player. I'm strumming my fingers really fast in the air, you can't see it 'cause you ain't there, but you had to be there, you know, just to feel that vibration moving your chest. Uh, that was the best. Live music with the homies. Uh, playing birthday parties for free just so people could hear us ring-rang, twing-twang, twing-twang on the guitar string. Just jamming out, just smiling and giggling and having a good time. That's what music's all about. Spreading the love, spreading the joy, spreading the meaning of life. Yeah, like when the cop shows up and bang-bang-bang on the garage door and he's like, "Yo, the music's really dope, but you gotta turn it down some more. People trying to work late, they're trying to work nights, they gotta sleep during the day, so it's never okay. You gotta close the garage. I know it's 109 degrees outside here in the Phoenix summer. I know you guys are just out here trying to, you know, live life to the fullest with music, but you gotta turn it down or close the garage door all the way." But dude, we're sweating our balls off, bro. What do you want us to do? Go do some drugs out in the streets? Run around with that sticky-icky? Ooh-wee, yes sir. All right, whatever Mr. Officer, guess we'll see you in about two hours. Jerk off. Nah, it's cool, he's just doing his job. Just like we're trying to do ours, but we weren't getting paid, you know? Someday you gotta wake up, stop being a kid, go out and make that money. And so that's here we are, 10 years later, 12 years later, trying to make that money. As a dad, three kids, one on the way. What else have I got to say? Still got that passion, still got that beat, still walking to the beat of my own drum, even though I can't drum, but I try and drum, I try and use my thumbs, try to bam-bam side to side, triplet it, you know? Left-right, right-left, paradiddle it. Uh, but I could never play the drums when I was younger, but I could hear them in my ears. I played the bass. I played stand-up bass, played electric bass, learned some guitar chords, learned some music theory. Not all the music theory, I don't know everything. I don't want to know everything. I think it'd be boring. Everything in life, man, if you knew everything, what's the point? Move on to a new subject. Uh, don't touch it. It's in the past, we mastered that. We got our own masterclass on how to freestyle, how to run out of room for the lyrics, how to record some stuff from your spirit. Yeah, we just spitting, it's just spitting some fire. Got a reggae rock band in the GarageBand. Yeah, started out GarageBand right after high school. There was no one else around who was very musical. Got a guitar, an acoustic guitar, started strumming some chords, sang from the heart, wrote like ten songs in a week, felt good. Making music just like I should, and then I lost that. Moved on to a new chapter in life. Life comes at you fast. Take a piano class, learn to play some chords, learn melody with your right hand. Yeah, your pinky, it's an important one. Try not to lose it, don't cut it off on accident. Rest in peace all those pinky tips. Yeah, hopefully you don't lose your middle finger, sometimes that one's important too when you're trying to hit that triad. Bam-bam-bam-bam. All right, that's enough, we're, that's enough. Just stop. Yeah, trying to spread music with my kids so they know what it is. Trying to learn how to conduct a beat with four counts in it. Yeah, down, left, right, up, and down, left, right, up. Or if you're using both hands then you got down, left and right, right and left, then up and back down on beat one. Go down with your thumbs and your hand, your whole arm goes down with the beat so everybody in the room knows when to move their feet. Down with the beat, come on, conduct that song, move it along. Got a left and right, then we bring it back home, go up so everybody knows to watch for the downbeat. It's all love.
