Stix and Stones
The dead walk beneath our feet. Listen. Stay silent There are so many words to tell Not one of them makes us well For the longest time, I thought I could put it behind me I fought a War and now there's one inside of me I couldn't face you back then Like I cannot face you now I used to think Words didn't matter That it didn't matter what was said Whatever they say, their Words cannot hurt me Sticks and stones So why are my hands trembling My face is red If what is said doesn't matter then why are we talking? If words can not hurt you, then why are you crying? Why do words matter? What's between them is only an idea Why can words hurt you and yet they cannot make you well. It's not fair. Words can hurt me, but they won't make me well What they speak of they do not know
